SERVICES OUR CENTER PROVIDE
THE PHYSIOTHERAPY AND REHABILITATION PROGRAMS OFFERED BY OUR CENTER:
- NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION PROGRAM
Neurological disorders
constitute clinical cases that are often come across and need a lot of
time and effort to rehabilitate. As the symptoms differ according to
the localization of the lesion and the pathology, the special
rehabilitation and exercise techniques show differences accordingly.
The rehabilitation principles and the treatment approach and techniques
should be considered particularly for each patient. In neurological
rehabilitation, our aim is to remedy the disability as much as
possible, and if that is not possible, to provide orientation and
education with the remaining potentials. Diseases such as Multiple
Scleroses, Hemiplegics, and Paraplegics are treated under the
neurological rehabilitation program at our center.
- CARDIOPULMONARY REHABILITATION PROGRAM
After heart surgeries, chronic
obstructive pulmonary diseases or similar cardiovascular system
diseases, oxygenation and ventilation problems may occur. When such
problems arise, the tolerance level towards exercise and/or daily
activities fall. In cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, alongside with the
drug treatment prescribed by the physician, patient/family education, chest – respiratory physiotherapy, exercise
education and psychosocial support are determined according to the
needs of the patient, and provided in our center.

ORTHOPEDIC
REHABILITATION PROGRAM
In the treatment of inborn or later
acquired orthopedic disabilities as a result of accidents,
physiotherapy plays and important role in the treatment of the individual
and the restoration and maintenance of his/her functions. In our
center, we provide physiotherapy rehabilitation programs for
fractures, dislocations, joint injuries, lumbago, neck pain
etc. |
| SPORTIVE
REHABILITATION PROGRAM
In our
center, we offer rehabilitation programs for the treatment of
sportsmen injuries and programs aimed at muscle improvement in
healthy individuals. In addition we have a fully equipped gymnasium
where training is also provided. In our center, where there are
sporting equipments for physical fitness for both dependent and
independent individuals, we aim at the social, physical and
psychological development of persons. |
|
- REHABILITATION PROGRAM FOR EXPECTANT MOTHERS
The changes in the muscle and bone systems that appear during pregnancy may affect the performance of the expectant mother and may bring about some painful experiences. Therefore, the rehabilitation program is generally useful for pregnant women both psychologically and physically, before, during and after birth. For this purpose, in our center we provide appropriate exercise programs and training/education for expectant mothers as of the third month of pregnancy.

REHABILITATION PROGRAM FOR SPASTIC CHILDREN
The problems observed in spastic children are neuromuscular defects that arise as a result of a lesion in the brain during or after birth. Our purpose in this rehabilitation program is to bring out and improve the existing potentials, to help arrange and to provide maximum independency to such children in order to prepare them for life. |
- VESTIBULAR REHABILITATION PROGRAM
The
early treatment for this problem, which may occur as a result of
neurological, physical or psychological disorders, and that lead the
individual towards dependency on others for daily activities, is very
important.
We aim that the vestibular systems of patients with vestibular
(balance) problems, who may need long-term treatments, are brought up
to the maximum level using various exercises and materials in our
center.
- BURN REHABILITATION PROGRAM
Burn patients fall into the category of special patients
and immobilization and exercise treatments should be carried out in
coordination. Within the burn rehabilitation program of our center we
provide physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs, which are as
important as drug treatments, in pursuance of the improvement of the
burnt area up to the maximum functional level.
| WHEEL CHAIR or SUPPLEMENTARY EQUIPMENT USAGE TRAINING
This program consists of three phases. Wheel chair or supplementary equipment usage starts with determining which will be of useful for the particular individual. As an appropriate wheelchair or equipment helps the integration of the individual into the society, ones that are not properly chosen may create functional limitations and increase disability. At the second phase, the most appropriate targets are to be set for the patient with the selected wheelchair or the supplementary equipment. An in the final phase, it is aimed that the patients reach maximum functional independency with the wheelchair or the supplementary equipment they use. |
|
- POST-AMPUTATION / PROSTHESES- ORTHESES REHABILITATION
Amputated (limb removal) patients, who need special treatments are not infrequent in our society and mostly, amputation is a result of traffic accidents or systemic diseases such as diabetes mellitus. We provide treatment programs to develop the existing functions of the amputated extremity of the individual, to help gain back his/her functions, to help him/her go back to work, and to raise the individuals' independency to a maximum level. For the purposes of socializing the individual, we provide ortheses and prostheses and train for its usage and provide rehabilitation as well.
Preventive and Controlling Physiotherapy Program Against Osteoporosis
Among the programs offered by our Center there is a preventive and
controlling physiotherapy program against Osteoporosis, implemented by
PT Unal Aras and PT
Ender Angın, for women above 40 years of
age. The exercise program that takes place in the gym in our center on
Tuesdays and Thursdays, aims at the prevention of the emergence and
progression of Osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis that is especially threatening for women above 40, can appear in the whole skeletal system. It is a
gradually deteriorating disease that starts with the weakening of bones
followed by fractures.
It causes the weakening of the ends of the lower arm bones and the ends
of thigh bones where they meet with the hip and the inner layer of the
vertebrae rather that the harder outer layer. These
bones become fragile and fractures may take longer to heal and the
risks of infection and deformation that may result in disability or
death increase.
Osteoporosis
is a threat for post-menopausal women, in women with premature menopause
or those who had both her ovaries surgically removed or those who
suffer long term low level of estrogen. There are many other factors
that may cause this illness and they are mostly genetic (old age, osteoporosis
history in the family etc), due to life style and nutrition habits
(passive life style, diets poor in Ca and vitamin D etc) and medical
conditions (long term usage of corticosteroids etc).
Nowadays,
it is a well-known fact that physical activity and exercise have
positive effects of bones and in-depth research shows the frequency,
period and type of activities that may be more effective. Regular physical
exercises that allow the bones to be able to carry the body weight
contribute to the bone formation process.
Exercise and Physical Activities in osteoporosis:
v Decreases the loss at the bone mass, prevents
fractures by increasing the mass.
v Prevents falling by strengthening the
muscles and increasing their solidity.
v Prevents falling by improving balance
and coordination.
v Increases the flexibility of joints.
v Prevents deformity by strengthening
the posture.
v Improves general performance by strengthening
the cardiopulmonary (heart and lungs) system
v Provides psychological stability and
increases the individual’s psychosocial self confidence.
HIPPOTHERAPY (THERAPY
WITH HORSES)
Hippotherapy is an approach where the
treatment principles of the therapist are combined with the
multi-dimensional movements of the horse.
The HIPPOTHERAPY PROGRAM is a program jointly offered
by Mehmet Reis Physiotherapy and
Rehabilitation
Center
and
Riding
School
, and is
provided for individuals for whom it is deemed to be appropriate as a
supplementary therapy under the supervision of physiotherapists.
Therapy with horses which is beneficial for daily skills, learning and development
of individuals with lower or higher levels of any kind of physical or
mental disability, is applied once a week, with exercises suitable for
the health condition of the individual. This approach is used as a supplementary
therapy method for the treatment of Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Mental
Retardation , Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Cardiovascular
accident/ stroke, Learning Disorders, Spina Bifida, Speech Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Psychological
Disorders, Paraplegics, Concentration Disorders, Hyperactivity, Emotional
and Behavioral Disorders, Problem Solving Disorders, Ordering Disorders, Self Confidence and
auto control deficiencies.
THE PROCESS OF HIPPOTHERAPY
This long and difficult process starts with the evaluation of the
condition of the patient and the suitable treatment approach is
determined. Just like in any field of therapy, in this special therapy
approach, an individual program in accordance with the neurophysiologic
development of the patient that will meet his/her needs is prepared.
After the suitable team and equipment is provided, the child gets
familiarized with the horse and later the treatment is completed.
Each therapy session lasts about 20 minutes but the frequency and the
period of the treatment is decided by physiotherapists according to the
needs of the patient.
THE HIPPOTHERAPY TEAM
This
treatment with horses can only be a success with team work. This team includes, besides the
medical members (doctor, physiotherapist, consultant …), persons
responsible for the keeping and care taking of the horse (groom, trainer
…) and family members.
Treatment
with horses is a part of an integral treatment. Here, in this treatment
approach that increases the efficiency of other treatment elements, the
HORSE is a tool to spread love for animals and the nature, to encourage
socialization and support self confidence, sharing and friendship and
to find hope and joi de vivre!
